Eau De Toilette
I'm trying to learn this song on the guitar right now. I don't really know how to play the guitar at all, but I'm trying to teach myself. I LOVE this song and its not actually that hard to play.

Indulgence
Last weekend, I went out for dinner with some friends at Reservoir, one of my favourite places in Montreal. This is the meal that i didn't order because it was my first time eating after 5 days of the flu and i thought it would be too indulgent. I still regret that decision. Pork and octopus on risotto, with lace made of cheese! Everyone else ordered this meal...they kept saying "oh no it's too good, we don't deserve this!"
I did have the dessert though sugar pie and chocolate pie, also too good.
My dinner was still really good, I definitely recommend this place for dinner and drinks after. Such a cozy place.

Solange Azaury Partridge Jewelery:
In a world of fast fashion, knock-offs and a whole lot of junk...its nice to see some intelligent design. Although they're probably being knocked off right now.

tUnE-yArDs!
Ok, so I'm ready to talk about Tune-Yards.My roomate Candice and I went to check out the Dirty Projectors show at Le National a couple weeks ago. Yeah they were very good, solid performance and blah blah. But what I really want to tell you about is the opening act Tune-Yards (aka Merrill Garbus and her guest performers). We got to the show and Tune-Yards had already started. All we heard was some high pitched recorder sounding instrument and some yelping and thought "Oh great, this is gonna be long..." I consider myself very open minded when hearing new music, and am always excited to hear something new, but overly experimental "noise" music can really get to me. However I was too quick to judge. Merrill's style consists of looping different noises and drum beats live and then playing over them with her little ukulele and singing and at times belting out in almost African chants. This was the best live performance I've seen all year. Everyone in the audience seemed to have the same sort of skepticism as me at the beginning, but once she got going, every single person in the room was dancing. The amount of energy that she brought to the stage was incredible. I recommend checking this band out, but you really can't even begin to understand the music until you see them live. I can't wait til the next show!

One day Phillip...one day....

Ok so i know thats a large claim, to say that the talented Phillip Lim and I are kindred design spirits. But I really feel that he understands me on a design level, even though we've never actually met. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to afford one of his pieces, and maybe we'll meet and collaborate and make beautiful collections... Well one can have dreams....
I wanted to post some pictures of accordions, because I think they're pretty cool and like them almost as banjos, when i came across this accordion necklace by Phil himself. I'm just sayin....

Soup Soup
Like i mentioned, I've been home all week, sick with the flu. All I've been eating is soup. I've been getting pretty tired of it, but I thought I'd share a really good soup recipe anyway.
This is some amazing food, my friend Sam and I had while i was visiting her in New York City. Its from a vegan restaurant called Wild Ginger. Neither of us are vegan, but the food was amazing none-the less. The top was a pumpkin soup that i tried making when i got home from the trip and it turned out pretty well! Here's my recipe (sorry i don't have any precise measurements, thats just not how i cook!):
- Vegetable stock
- pumpkin or butternut squash - chop into cubes(or both)
- sweet potato - chop into cubes
- tyme
- bay leaves
- white kidney beans (dried)
- 1 large chopped onion
- chopped fresh ginger (just a few pinches!)

It`s the magical mystery kind!
Since moving to Montreal, I`ve been lucky enough to see a ton of great live music. Just since October I`ve seen:
- Joshua Radin with Gary Jules (such a good surprise opener)
- Thus:Owls
- Regina Spektor with Little Joy
- Patrick Watson
- Ohbijou
- Dirty Projectors with Tune Yards (more about Tune Yards later)
- Fools Gold and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
too bad I`m extremely unorganized and forgot to bring a camera to most of these shows, but i did happen to steal some photos and videos from Candice from the Edward Sharpe show, which was unbelievable.
This is a video that Candice took from the finale of the show. They had everyone sit down on the floor, and they invited a bunch of people up on stage. It was pretty magical. Check out the boys in the red shirts...they know all the words!(check out the girls in the back...they're pretending to)
This is right before Alex, the lead singer of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, jumped off stage and landed on Candice. While other fans tried to get close to cop a feel, Candice screamed and felt awkward.

Then everyone was on stage 2 bands, probably about 20 people. They must have so much fun on tour.
