Acid Trip
Alright so maybe you're over this trend by now, but I'm definitely not. Give me a hint of neon any time to brighten up my day.

Maison Michel
Maison Michel hats, distinguishable by the discrete "M" on the band are a favourite among fashion week goers and fashion bloggers alike. I've noticed them a lot lately around the blogosphere, but I have to admit, I didn't know very much about the brand before this post.

I was just browsing solestruck, and came accross these Jeffrey Campbells. I am both intrigued and terrified by these shoes...thoughts?

Oh Olsens
I've always been a fan of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I don't know why exactly but I have been drawn to them ever since their Full House days, to their Passport to Paris days, to today, as they've traded in much of their on camera fame for fashion design fame.

Listen! Love Inks
I mentioned that I saw the band Love Inks play a couple weeks ago at a tiny show here in Montreal. The show was intimate and heartfelt, sort of felt like we were in someone`s parents` basement. Anyway all i really have to say is i love the minimal, dreamy sound of this band and apparently Kanye West does too. Check out their Album ESP and I definitely recommend getting out to a show if you have the chance.

On The Street! Lauren
This is my friend Lauren who is a fashion designer and all around class act. Here she is in angelic white outside of the Orange Julep, a true Montreal landmark, famous for its mysterious frothy orange drink...frothy...ew gross word. Anyway look out Lauren's upcoming silent youtube show, where she uses gestures instead of words. That was a joke, but how I wish it were real.

Sketchin up a storm lately
photo credit: sign of the seahorse (my art + illustration blog)
This is a sketch that I did using chalk pastels. I'm trying to sketch and paint a lot more lately. My current big painting project is a huge monster of a painting that I (over) ambitiously decided to do as a wedding gift for my brother. Its been taking me a lot longer than planned. Apparently landscapes are a lot more difficult than life paintings...who knew?
ps.If you like what you see on my illustration blog, do me a favour and scroll down to the bottom and become a follower and I'll love you forever!

Listen! Hooray for Earth
There are so many great bands playing this month in Montreal, its exciting but also a little overwhelming. The nice thing about Montreal is that the shows here are often at smaller venues, making them all the more intimate. Also it seems like all new up and coming bands seem to want to pass through here. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a great band called Love Inks play at the tiniest of venues Le Cagibi. There must've been only fifteen people at the show, which made me feel sort of bad for the band; but it was also really cool to be a part of the show, as I have a feeling they'll be blowing up soon (more on Love Inks later).
I don't know what's been happening to my musical taste lately, maybe its the gradually warming weather or the bright poppy colours currently all over the place on the fashion side, but I seem to be trading in my folky banjo inclined taste for up beat pop-synth sounds. Don't get me wrong, I still love the banjo. I guess ultimately my favourite music would merge folk sounds, synth, brazilian drumming, and soft vocals. Anyway at the moment I'm completely enamoured by up and coming band Hooray for Earth. Dumb, gimicky sounding band names often turn me off, but in this case, I think the name fits the sound. Their LP "True Loves" came out June 7th, and while the title track is definitely up there for me, my favourite is "No Love" listen here:

Audrey Cantwell's new line - Ovate
It makes me so proud to see Canadian designers who are actually producing innovative avant-garde designs. Montreal's own Audrey Cantwell has just come out with her new line "Ovate." I'm loving all these bad-ass looks. For more info click here.

Thank you to Love at First Blush!
I just wanted to say a special thanks to my friend Sabrina of the beautiful blog Love at First Blush for featuring me in the "In her closet" series. She took pictures of me and my roomie Candice (blogger extraodinaire of Dandelion Heart)in our space, showcasing our rooms and our favourite things (Candice's feature will be posted shortly). We had so much fun during the photoshoot, and it made me feel one step closer to my dream of being featured on The Selby.
Here are a couple of pictures of me & my room from the shoot:

Ode to Phillip Lim
Phillip Lim is one of my absolute favourite designers, with his understated, effortlessly cool and elegant looks. What I love about his designs is the attention to detail and quality. His line is still young, as it was launched only 5 years ago and is still privately owned. That being said, sales for the company are rumoured to be 60 million dollars (after just 5 years!!).
He's a huge inspiration to me, and I can't help but feel like we share some sort of designer wavelength connection. I would love to meet him someday, and this video confirms the fact that he not only has an inspirational story, but seems to be a very down to earth and genuine person.
