I'm off to London tomorrow! I cannn't wait to check out The Liberty Store. Here are some Liberty prints to get me in the spirit. The Bicycle is so awesome, but sold out!
The fact that this song woke me up this morning and I didn't even get mad at it just goes to show how much I like it. I proceeded to play it on repeat on the way to work.
I went to their show, when they were opening for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. It was such a lively, energetic show, and at the end they jumped into the audience with their instruments and danced around. So much fun!
I'm so glad that Pheobe Philo is designing again, and she's already managed to bring the whole Celine brand from drab to effortlessly cool. She's my favourite designer (along side Philly Lim),and although I'm sad her days at Chloe are over, I'm really glad to see what she's brought to Celine. I posted some close up detailed shots from Jak and Jil, because the mastery of her work is all in the details.
I love the colour palette of this collection and specifically they way in which the colours are used together. It takes away from any hard edges of the futuristic looks.
and a bright little song to go with the collection:
Erdem, my friend! Ok, he's not really my friend, but my friend Laura did work for him in London and said he's a really nice guy so I'm sure we'd get along. He also did his undergrad at Ryerson, where I went too, and he came back and spoke to us a couple years ago. He's a great example of a down to earth designer who loves the craft and who has definitely found his point of view. His prints keep getting better season after season
With her muse for the collection being Nico, Erin Featherson created 70s rock chick looks that were as breezy as they were hip. I always tend to look to the 70s for inspiration so this collection scored big points with me. I'm awaiting the return of dramatic bell bottoms, i feel that it's coming soon....
and here's an appropriate song for all you long haired children out there:
Adam - I'm into the chunky sweater with the long flowy skirt, a sophisticated "nouveau-grunge" peut-etre? and you know how I feel about grunge.... and I think the skirt at the bottom is just genius in an understated kind of way. Well done Adam...Well done.
